Why should I stay in Courchevel 1650?

08/05/2019

The resort with something for everyone

Courchevel Moriond (1650) is the second highest of the village in the Courchevel Valley. Whilst 1850 is often better known, Courchevel 1650 deserves more credit for all it has to offer. If you enjoy quieter slopes, easy access to the other valleys, a pretty town centre and a great selection of bars and restaurants, then Courchevel 1650 is the place for you. So, really, it has something for everyone.

The town centre of Courchevel has a huge range of shops, bakeries, supermarkets, lively bars and great restaurants to choose from. You will surely be able to find the perfect apres-ski activity for you, from a lively apres bars scene, to perfect family-friendly restaurants. If you like Meribel for its lively town centre, then you will also enjoy Courchevel 1650. A lot of our clients who love Meribel, also love Courchevel 1650. It’s also the perfect location if you’re travelling with non-skiers, offering a wide-range of activities to do whilst you’re not skiing. 1650 is the home of Aquamotion, a newly-built leisure complex with a pool, slides for the kids, rock climbing, indoor surfing and great restaurants. Even if you do not stay in 1650, it is well worth the ski trip down to Aquamotion! If you buy a Courchevel Valley ski pass, it includes a free entry to the centre too, so there is no reason not to give it a visit. You can also try out the Moriond tobogganing racing track, the most thrilling race track in the Three Valleys, with 3km of grand-prix style racing. A great activity for after skiing or if you fancy sliding down the slopes a different way.

It also offers some of the best skiing in the Three Valleys, with sunshine shining on its slopes for  most of the day, and a huge range of peaceful rolling slopes. As its almost on the outskirts of the Three Valleys, its slopes remain quieter even though it still has great access to the other valleys, with only two lifts to take you to 1850. So, during the peak weeks of the season, you can avoid some of the hustle and bustle of the slopes, as there’s less traffic going through the resort. This makes it a very appealing resort for families, with ski school meeting points still operating here, and the slopes staying quiet in the mornings and afternoons. This is not to say it is easy terrain, as 1650 is also famous for its off-piste skiing, making it the perfect resort for skiers of all abilities.

Top restaurants: Copina, offering a great selection of tapas and craft beers and cocktails. The perfect spot for a mountain lunch, or an evening out.

Top non-skiing activity: The thrills of the Moriond racing track or the tranquil luxury of Aquamotion.

Our favourite run: Tipis - a lovely blue run back down to the centre of 1650 and through the trees!
