Courchevel 1550 - Courchevel Valley - 3 Valleys France
Like
Courchevel 1650, Courchevel 1550 offers
a great mix of the local residents, ski workers and holidaymakers to give it a relaxed
and friendly atmosphere.
It is perfect for family groups and/or dedicated skiers
as it is quieter than Courchevel 1850 or 1650 but has a nice atmosphere, lots
of ski in ski out accommodation and a number of restaurants and bars.
It is also less
expensive than Courchevel 1850 and because it is directly below 1850 offers
great access to the Courchevel Valley and beyond via a Telecabine to the centre
of Courchevel 1850 that also runs into the evening.
Courchevel
1550 is directly below 1850 and spread outs around the mountain. There are only
a couple of hotels in Courchevel 1550 such as Hotel les Ancolies and Hotel les
Flocons. Most of the accommodation is therefore either in chalets or
apartments.
A lot of
the Chalet accommodation is Ski in Ski out and a reasonable amount is also self
catered. The Chalets vary in age and
condition but a reasonable percentage are new or newly refurbished and some are of a very high standard. The Apartments tend to be a little
older in style and the quality will depend on the amount of refurbishment
undertaken by the owners.

Courchevel
1550 - Ski Lifts & Pistes
The ski
area directly serviced by 1550 is quite small but has 3 lovely blue runs,
Proveres, Tovets & Stade between it and 1850 as well as a small green run for
beginners. The red runs Dou du Midi and Deviation 1550 also run into Courchevel
1550.
However the
pistes are not the reason you holiday here but instead it the rapid access to
1850 via the Tovetshigh speed 6 man
chair or the Grangettes bubble lift which take you right in to the centre of
1850.
For those
who are feeling brave, there is also a 2km luge/tobogganingtrack between 1850 and 1550 which is open
between 9am and 7:30pm and fully lit so you can sledge at night!
The is also
the free Roys lift and green run for beginners.
